Apple Cake
Holy smokes, I can bake!
So this is something I kinda made up and have made a few times now and its actually pretty okay, in fact I’ve just made one for my bro’s birthday :3
And I thought I’d share it here in case anyone wanted to try something super simple and easy and newb-friendly to make; heck I can hardly cook myself but still didn’t manage to spoil this!
I didn’t have butter handy so I used vegetable oil but you could substitute butter I guess. I also used a very sweet kinda yellow apple popular in asia so it hardly has any tang, but also I guess you could feel free to swap varieties.Did I mention I also just used a toaster oven? :D
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 apple thinly sliced
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- a pinch of salt
How To:
- Preheat oven to 150 degree celcius.
- Crack eggs into mixing bowl and add the sugar, beat until dissovled and then add the oil and mix.
- Add the vanilla and salt and stir some more.
- Sift in the flour and the baking powder. Mix till its nice smooth and gooey(you can totally tell I’m not a newb).
- Pour into a greased small circular pan or smallish rectangular pan and arrange the apple pieces ontop. Sprinkle more brown sugar over everything.
- Stick in the oven for 20-25 min.
- Cool and enjoy!

My mum just called and relayed a job offer to me from a parent of a kid from the school she runs. He’s an amazing artist and inks work for the likes of Marvel and Image Comics. She told me his bosses from the US were looking for more freelance inkers or pencilers from this region and that she would let me know the full details when she gets back here around next week.
I just stared off into the distance all bug-eyed and said “But Ma, don’t they need good people?”
I mean I would absolutely explode for a chance to work for something like that but the talent level back home is so insanely good that I don’t know if I have a snowball’s chance in hell, but to be a comic book illustrator??? That’s like, a dream job. I don’t want to pass the oppurtunity up, but I can’t help get all critical and paranoid about my chances as well.
